The AMATIS' DNA
A dinasty of stringed Instrument makers in Cremona

September 30th - October 15th
Palazzo Pallavicino Ariguzzi, via Colletta, Cremona

The Amati family
The celebrations dedicated to Andrea Amati will continue during October 2006 with the exhibition of the instruments made by his descendants over the slow passing of over a century.
The artisan activity, in fact, was passed down through the family for a good four generations: from Andrea to his sons Antonio and Gerolamo, active until 1630, and from Gerolamo to his son Niccolò, and finally to the lesser known Gerolamo II. (...)

The exhibit, planned for next October, will provide the opportunity to retrace the work of the Amati family through the displaying of their works, including in particular instruments such as the tenor viola, the 5 string cello, or the viola da gamba, which are today used in philological performances.
